Please join RIIC and District Hall Providence for our new series on gamechangers. Every month we’ll discuss important topics in innovation with key leaders from Israel and Rhode Island.

The speaker, Dr. Kira Radinsky is the chairperson and CTO of Diagnostic Robotics, where the most advanced technologies in the field of artificial intelligence are harnessed to make healthcare better, cheaper, and more widely available.

Dr. Radinsky has founded SalesPredict, acquired by eBay in 2016 and served as eBay Chief Scientist (IL). She gained international recognition for her work at the Technion and Microsoft Research for developing predictive algorithms that recognized the early warning signs of globally impactful events, as disease epidemics and political unrests. In 2013, she was named one of MIT Technology Review’s 35 Young Innovators Under 35 and in 2015 Forbes included her as “30 Under 30 Rising Stars in Enterprise Tech”. She is a frequent presenter at global tech and industry conferences, including TEDx, Wired, Strata Data Science, Techcrunch and publishes in HBR. Radinsky also serves as a board member in Israel Securities Authority and technology board of HSBC bank. She also holds a visiting professor position at the Technion focusing on the application of predictive data mining in medicine.

Kira will be interviewed by Dr. Ranney, who is an emergency physician, researcher, and national advocate for innovative approaches to public health. She holds the Warren Alpert Endowed Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at Alpert Medical School of Brown University and is Founding Director of the Brown-Lifespan Center for Digital Health. Dr. Ranney’s research focus is on developing, testing, and disseminating digital health interventions to prevent violence and mental illness. She has had continuous external funding from federal and foundation grants for over a decade, with over 120 peer-reviewed publications. She serves multiple national leadership roles, including Chief Research Officer of AFFIRM Research (http://www.affirmresearch.org), the country’s leading non-profit committed to ending the gun violence epidemic through a non-partisan public health approach, and President of the Board of GetUsPPE.org, a start-up non-profit that is delivering donated personal protective equipment to those who need it most. She is an editor for Annals of Emergency Medicine, a Fellow of the fifth class of the Aspen Institute’s Health Innovators Fellowship Program, and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network. She has received numerous awards for technology innovation, public health, and research, including Rhode Island Woman Physician of the Year and the American College of Emergency Physicians’ Policy Pioneer Award. She is also a frequent media commentator on outlets ranging from CNN to the Atlantic to the New York Times regarding the value of a national public health strategy.
