The United Nations has declared that 2021 is the year of the “Creative Economy.” Join us on Thursday January 28 as we explore how local innovators are building creative economies here in Rhode Island that can be replicated around the world.

11:30 AM | Cultivating Innovation: Informal Conversations with RI’s Economic Gardener

Join us for an informal conversation, led by Tuni Schartner, Executive Director of Venture Café Providence and Rhode Island’s economic gardener on innovation for ocean state wind. Every week Tuni will lead the conversation with thought leaders from around Rhode Island touching on a number of topics important for innovators, entrepreneurs, and small businesses in Rhode Island.

12:00 PM | Building RI’s Creative Economy

Join us and learn how local organizations are building the economy using creative methods to include all Rhode Islanders. Juan Wilson will lead this conversation sharing how these models for community and economy building are replicable for other locations around the world featuring Rebecca Garland of Beautiful Day; Leslie Moore of The Black Block RI; and Jodie Woodruff of the E Center at The Met High School.

1:15 PM | Startup Story: Bliss Salon

Join us for a Startup Story featuring, Christine Paige of Bliss Salon and modified by Karina Paige, the Executive Director at Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses-Rhode Island. Startup stories showcase local innovators, startups and small businesses with their own session dedicated to sharing what they’ve learned with the Venture Café Community.
